Why are we so obsessed with size? Why is it so important to create smaller devices? What is wrong with a computer that can fit on one’s lap? What is wrong with a music player that can fit into fingers?
Well, current entertainment requirements may be met but people have recognized that technology still has the potential of transforming human life. How do we find out whether we are suffering from the problem of excessive cholesterol? We take a small sample of blood out of our body and analyze it in the right machine. Well, creating smaller devices may help us infuse a large number of machines into our blood.
These machines will then travel to the heart and will not just focus on cholesterol but will cover each and every aspect of our health. The machines can pass through the various valves and check whether the high level of cholesterol has resulted in clogging of the heart yet. The same can be done for the brain or all other parts of the body.
Rather than taking blood out of the body, it will be better if the machine is inserted into the body. This is what reduction in size can do to human health care. In the same way, a miniatures sized spacecraft can escape earth’s gravity much faster. Making a billion such spacecrafts will reduce the cost of launch.
These spacecrafts can then meet in space and become a full fledged space shuttle which can be used by humans to travel to different parts of the space. The potential of such devices to better our life are virtually unlimited. This is why there is emphasis on reduction of size of devices.
